Love him or hate him everyone in America has an opinion on Howard Stern. Howard has grown from a local radio DJ to a pop culture icon. What does that say about our society? Kinda scary to me that so many people actually find his radio show interesting or the fact that kids are able to hear some of the stuff that he talks about on their Sirius radios. Many of the things that he talks about were so bad that he got banned from regular radio and had to go to Sirius. I think that Howard might be the reason that they even came out with Sirius satellite radio, not really but the Federal Communication Commission made many changes in the way that radio stations were able to conduct their shows because of Howard Stern, and Howard needed some were else to go because he was not able to do the show the way the he wanted because of the F.C.C. According to the F.C.C.'s home page there was more than 300 complaints against Howard Stern during the late 80's to the early 1990's (http://www.fcc.gov/).
As you might be able to tell by now from my blog I'm not a big fan or supporter of Howard's. He used to have a late night show on cable TV that was just rude, crude and any other adjective you can think of, and this was able to be seen by anybody that might tune in or be channel surfing in the we hours of the night. Anybody that has seen his show or heard him on the radio knows exactly what I'm talking about. Anything from making fun of people to having women sit on what ever that thing is and watching them get aroused. How can this be good for the young people in America? Or for that matter what is the purpose.
But still he would have to be considered a big part of the popular culture of today. His show might not be for everyone but still everyone knows who he is. So everyone what do you think of the Howard Stern show? Leave me a comment and I bet we will see some very different opions.

I guess I do not necessarily hate Howard Stern, but the truth is that I am also not a fan. In the past, anytime I had accidently stumbled across his program, I was reminded of why I quit listening in the first place. I often tried to listen-in just to see what others were so fascinated by in him but alas, I never figured that part of the puzzle out.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I think he talks about so many rated R (or X) topics because, at least in my opinion, Howard Stern has a sexual addiction. He enjoys the responses from others when he mentions certain topics or words, and I believe filth is all he ever thinks about. If he were to vanish from the radio, I sincerely doubt anyone would notice anytime soon.
I'm sorry but I disagree with your views about Howard Stern. I think that he should be commended for entertaining people in a manner that is suitable for him (and apparently many others). I am firmly against censorship across the board. Unfortunately, Americans are not yet hip to the fact that sexuality is part of the natural animalistic tendencies of humans. In other country's where societies have evolved far beyond that of Americans, citizens can watch their news with a strip tease from the broadcasters. These are also country's where sex crimes are extremely low as opposed to country's like the U.S. where instead of dealing with issues head on, suppression is rampid. Supression is the most inefficient and dishonest way to handle unfavorable situations. Americans have the right to change the station if they find certain programming offensive. Instead of agreeing to disagree about what is deemed entertaining, people tend to assume that their morals are being stripped from them through television or radio. If one is that sensitive to reality, they need to turn off their electronics and censor themselves not others.
